Effective January 25, 2017, the Los Angeles City Council and Mayor Garcetti added Section 151.31 to the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance. Effective October 4, 2016, the Los Angeles City Council adopted the Rent Registry Ordinance (#184529) which is similar to those required by the City of West Hollywood and the City of Santa Monica.
The NEW Los Angeles Rent Registry Ordinance requires the owners of buildings with rent stabilized units subject to the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance (LA RSO) to provide the Los Angeles Housing Community and Investment Department (HCIDLA) with the following information for each building on an annual basis:

In California, if a building has 16 or more units, the owner is required to have a live-in manager. See, California Code of Regulations Title 25, Section 42. On September 25, 2016, Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 1007 into law. Senate Bill 1007, codified in Section 1282.5 of the California Code of Civil Procedure, provides new protections for the little guy (including consumers and employees) in arbitration proceedings.
